Civil Engineering Technology
This guide records how articulated postsecondary credit from a high school Engineering Technology Education career and technical education (CTE) program of study will be accepted at the colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).
Credit for Prior Learning Request
COLLEGE CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
To earn articulated credit for civil engineering technology, a student from must have accomplished the following:
- Completed their high school engineering technology education program with a grade of “C” or higher in all engineering courses
- Passed Engineering 1 (210221) and/or Engineering II (21022) with a “C” or better
- Passed one or more of the following industry-recognized certification(s) and/or end of program assessment(s)
- Submitted the necessary documentation, signed by a school personnel, indicating all requirements have been met (see page 3-4 of this document for signature page)
- Applied to a KCTCS college with a civil engineering technology major and enrolled within two years of graduating high school
Upon successful completion of the requirements above, a student will be eligible to receive college credit for:

Note: To earn a certificate, diploma, or degree, a student must complete at least 25-percent of the approved curriculum credits at the KCTCS college granting the credential, regardless of the time the student has attended the college.
This agreement will be in effect until changes are made to the KCTCS curriculum, the third-party credential and/or the end of program assessment. This is valid for students who graduate high school in 2023 and until the criteria for this CTE2KCTCS guide are changed.
