Accelerated Programs for Veterans
KCTCS has identified and developed several accelerated pathways to licensed civilian occupations for veterans who served in targeted military occupations. Click below to review the full descriptions for each program. KCTCS continues to work with the colleges to find additional pathways so be sure to check back regularly as new ones are added.
ACCELERATED PATHWAYS TO LICENSED OCCUPATIONS
Veterans with 18 months of practical experience with either power plants or airframes (or 30 months for both) may be eligible to earn credit through prior learning assessments for coursework required for the Aviation Maintenance programs at Jefferson Community & Technical College and Somerset Community College.

Veterans who served as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (91B) in the Army may be eligible* to receive up to 20 credit hours of coursework required for the Diesel Technology program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College.

Veterans who served as an Army Dental Assistant (68E) may be eligible* to receive 6 credit hours of coursework required for the Dental Hygiene program at Big Sandy Community & Technical College.

Veterans who served as a Utilities Equipment Repairer (91C) in the Army may be eligible* to receive up to 15 credit hours of coursework required for the HVAC program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College.

Veterans who served as an Allied Trade Specialist (91E) in the Army may be eligible* to receive up to 11 credit hours of coursework required for the Industrial Maintenance program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College.

Veterans who served as an Army Medic (68W) may be eligible* to receive 5 credit hours of coursework required for the Associate Degree Nursing Program at any of the following colleges:

- Elizabethtown Community College
- Gateway Community & Technical College
- Hazard Community & Technical College
- Henderson Community College
- Hopkinsville Community College
- Madisonville Community College

- Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College
- West Kentucky Community & Technical College
This program will be offered beginning in Spring 2021.
