Logan County native is new president of Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College

Dr. Michelle TrawickMichelle Trawick, Ph.D., a Logan County native and former Western Kentucky University administrator, has been selected as the new president of Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College. She will officially assume the role July 31.

Trawick currently serves as a distinguished professor of economics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and previously held the role of John Becker Dean, professor of economics, for UNO’s College of Business Administration.

Prior to her time at UNO, Trawick spent nearly 20 years at WKU, where she advanced through faculty ranks to serve in leadership roles, including associate provost for faculty and academic excellence and associate dean for faculty and administration at the Gordon Ford College of Business.

“We are so pleased to welcome Dr. Trawick back to Kentucky,” said Ryan Quarles, president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. “As a first-generation college graduate with deep Kentucky roots, she brings not only a wealth of academic leadership but a personal understanding of the life-changing power of education. Her experience, vision and commitment to student success and workforce readiness will be invaluable to the community and the region it serves.”

Trawick holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in economics from North Carolina University and a bachelor’s degree from WKU.

“Returning to Kentucky to lead Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is both a professional honor and a deeply personal milestone,” said Trawick. “As a first-generation college graduate from Logan County, I understand firsthand how education can open doors and transform lives. I am excited to work alongside the dedicated faculty, staff and business and community partners to expand opportunities

for learner success and to help shape a workforce that meets the needs of this growing region.”
