The Kentucky Community and Technical College System and six of its colleges won Medallion awards for outstanding achievement in design and communications from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations, District 2, at a conference held recently in Lexington.

KCTCS won a silver medallion for the Going Pro signing event, which recognized students and graduates beginning their professional careers. A crucial tool in Kentucky’s efforts to combat a national workforce shortage, KCTCS celebrated Kentuckians who invested in their futures and the future of the commonwealth.

“We’re very pleased that KCTCS had such a strong showing in the district competition,” said Blair Hess, KCTCS vice president for communications and marketing. “These awards represent the skills, talent and ingenuity of staff across our system, and we extend our congratulations to all.”

In separate competitions, two community college leaders were honored with prestigious district awards.

Hazard Community and Technical College President Jennifer Lindon won the Pacesetter Award. The award recognizes a community college president for special leadership and support in college communications and marketing.

Rebecca Lee, associate vice president for marketing and communications at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, won Communicator of the Year for demonstrated leadership in college communications and marketing.
