Scholarships, food pantries, emergency aid among top priorities for KCTCS Giving Day set April 25

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural KCTCS Giving Day on April 25 during Community College Month.

This 24-hour fundraising event provides the opportunity for the entire commonwealth to come together to lend financial support for scholarships, food pantries, emergency aid, student enrichment programs and other initiatives for students facing financial hardships across the state’s 16 community colleges.

“By supporting our students on KCTCS Giving Day, you are empowering their futures and transforming their lives,” said KCTCS President Ryan Quarles. “Gifts of any size do make a difference, and we look forward to rallying together with our alumni, communities, friends, business and industry partners and education advocates in support of Kentucky’s future workforce.”

With many Kentucky families facing economic challenges, the need for student support has never been greater. Money raised for scholarships is need-based and will help students stay in college and complete their education.

In addition to scholarships, donations made on KCTCS Giving Day can bolster food pantries and emergency aid. According to a recent survey, food insecurity is a significant issue facing KCTCS students, with 25% reporting low food security. By providing access to nutritious food, planners hope to provide a supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Individuals, businesses and organizations interested in supporting students across the system can designate their gift for the KCTCS system or college and program of their choosing, and early giving is already open. You can also follow KCTCS Giving Day on social media by searching #KCTCSGivingDay.
