Dr. Alissa Young

Dr. Alissa Young was named the 6th President and CEO of Hopkinsville Community College (HCC), part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System in August of 2017. She provides leadership for faculty, staff and administration at two college locations. Founded in 1965, HCC serves more than 2,800 credit-seeking students annually with almost one-third of the enrollment comprised of active duty military students, their dependents or veterans, affiliated with Fort Campbell Army Base, the second largest installation in the world.

Since 1991, Dr. Young has worked in various capacities at HCC, beginning as a faculty member teaching communication, and moving up through the ranks to chair her academic division, then serving as associate dean for academic extensions before progressing to serve a stint as chief academic affairs officer and dean of academic affairs. She served as HCC’s chief academic officer from 2013 until she assumed the presidency in October of 2017. Dr. Young has led the design and development of new academic programs for the college’s Emerging Technologies capital project. She is a trustee for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Dr. Young also serves on a variety of local boards including: the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, Jennie Stuart Medical Center, South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, United Way of the Pennyrile and the West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board. Dr. Young earned a doctorate from the University of Kentucky, a master’s in organizational communication from Murray State University and a bachelor’s in radio-television broadcasting from Murray State.
