The Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce recently shared its 10 Rules of Moving from Youth Dependency to Adult Economic Independence and it made me think about how we help Kentuckians do that. Everything we do is focused on helping people achieve economic independence so they and their families can have better lives.

As employers search for skilled workers, many Kentuckians are on the sidelines because they don’t have the training needed for good careers. What they might not know is short-term training is available at little to no cost at their local community college.

Community colleges were created to provide equal access to affordable higher education. We take that very seriously and want to be sure we’re removing as many barriers as possible for our students. Providing mental health services is one more way we do that.
