2.0.2 Student Load

With the exceptions noted below, the maximum course load to be carried during any semester by any student in a college (including residence, correspondence, distance learning, and extension courses) shall be nineteen
(19) credit hours or the amount specified in the curriculum for the particular semester, whichever is larger.

A student may be registered simultaneously at a KCTCS college and at another institution only with the approval of the president of the KCTCS college (or designee). The credit hours obtained at the other institution will be considered a part of the student's maximum load. If the simultaneous registration has not been authorized, the transfer of credit from the other institution may be denied.

A student who has attained a grade point average of 3.0 on a load of at least fifteen (15) credit hours for the preceding semester may be permitted by the college president (or designee) to carry a maximum of three (3) extra credit hours, provided the total is not in excess of twenty-two (22) for the term.

  • 2.0.2.1 Session Load
    • The maximum course load to be carried without special permission during any session by any student in a college (including residence, correspondence, distance learning, and extension courses) shall not exceed the amount specified in the table below or the amount specified in the curriculum for that particular session, whichever is larger.

  • 2.0.2.2 Students on Probation
    • A student on academic probation shall not exceed 15 credit hours in a semester and shall not exceed the amount specified in the table below for any session:
