Small Business Management Certificate

The Small Business Management Certificate curricula is designed to prepare students for the position of entrepreneur and business owner and offers the prospective business owner the fundamentals of starting and operating a business.

15 Credit Hours

Upon completion of this certificate, the graduate can:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding that entrepreneurship is a field of business.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic financial accounting concepts, applications, reporting and interpretations for a small business.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the operation of the economic system and how it affects individuals, organizations and society.
  4. Describe and compare legal forms of a small business.
  5. Explain, identify and compare sources of funding for small business.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the marketing and customer focus in a small business.
  7. Analyze and interpret financial documents for planning, organizing and controlling small business.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of the functions of management (planning, organizing, leading, staffing and controlling) of a small business.
