Greg May

Greg May is a lifelong resident of Pike County and a longtime eastern Kentucky business and community leader. He and his wife, Menette, live in Pikeville, where he has built a career spanning the coal, electric utility, water and wastewater, construction and property-development sectors.

May began his career working in coal mining and later served as a lineman for Kentucky Power before moving into water and wastewater utility operations. He went on to serve as vice president of operations for Veolia Water, overseeing utility operations in Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. In 2005, he founded Utility Management Group, which provides utility and public works management services in Kentucky and Virginia. His companies also include Air Management Group and Small Engine Solutions, and together his businesses employ approximately 95 people. His work includes managing public works operations for the City of Pikeville, utility operations in Floyd County and Virginia, and maintenance and development services for Pikeville Medical Center.

May has also been active in economic and community development across eastern Kentucky, including property development supporting addiction recovery facilities. He serves on the Pike County Economic Development Board and Pike County Library Board and previously served on the Big Sandy Community and Technical College Board of Directors.
