On January 4 KCTCS began its public advocacy effort in full force. All 16 colleges and the System office are assigned weeks in Frankfort during the 2010 session of the Kentucky General Assembly to bring students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders. These groups will encourage lawmakers to make smart investments in the state’s future by investing in KCTCS.

To date, more than 500 KCTCS stakeholders representing four colleges and the System office have visited Frankfort. Their visits to the state capital include attending legislative committee meetings, meeting with legislators, and attending both the House and Senate chambers.

Every Wednesday a showcase featuring college and KCTCS programs is held in the Capitol Annex. Legislators have particularly enjoyed meeting the students demonstrating the skills they are learning in these featured programs.

Join me this Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Capital Annex (Room 125) as I testify to the House Budget Review – Postsecondary Education subcommittee.
